Tom -
This is no longer made by Barbour Plastics (OEM manufacturer)
A group here did a group special order a year or two ago but i recall that all the extra sets ordered were sold.

Is it the color (red) that makes it unusal or just the style of rub rail in general?

The red insert was unique to the classic Outrage and Newport models. All others had black.

I already talk to Barbour this morning. The minimum they would run is 1,000 ft at 1.47 per foot. I really want to stick with the red, it looks great.
Since I am new to the Whaler scene...how long do you think it would take to get a group buy together for this red rub rail? I estimate 50 boats at 20 ft per boat.

Have you tried calling Sue @ Twin Cities? They may have gotten in on the original order and may have some remaining if they did

Gappy, To my knowledge Twin Cities is sold out too. I may be able to help. I bought enough of a run to redo my Newport Twice and depending on what happens with the sale of my Newport, I may be selling off the extra kit.
BTW My in-laws live in Whitehall / Montague and also have a place in Silver Lake. So, I could deliver it over there if I do sell it.
My extra roll of about 76'
track
rubrail
BTW, Did you buy your Newport from and owner in Fruitport who had it on a lift in Spring Lake?

Thanks for all of the input.
I don't have it in hand yet but I did find some red rub rail. I called a big Whaler dealer who called Whaler who gave him a number of a guy who bought a bunch from Whaler. Called him and sure enough he does so we will workout the details tomorrow....hopefully.
I bought my Newport from a family that lives on Pentwater Lake. They owned it for 2 yrs.

Gappy. Do you know Pat and Robin Fraker? They have had a place on Pentwater Lake for decades. Was her families place her maiden name is Finch. I remember in 1975 Pat and I went there in March for spring break (yes I live in Florida now ... I learned quick) and were foolish enough to canoe the channel or whatever they call it out onto Lake Michigan. Maybe it was the beer but the waves were big and the water was nasty cold especially when soaked after a roll over and dressed for the Michigan cold. Gappy, thanks for stimulating the memories of Pentwater Lake.

I am the one who put together the red insert order with Barbour, and the response was so large that I turned it over to Sue @ Twin Cities. All together, the order ended up totalling 1500 linear ft purchased. Sue took 300' for herself, and promptly sold it all. But she does not want to upfront the cost and stock 1000'. She may even have some "waiting list" cuistomers already.
I would work with Sue, as I'm sure she will take some more, and then I would use the two Whaler sites to advertize for the footage needed. The orders will flow in. Sue doens't seem to want to do the marketing on her own, but if you (we) help with the order taking, she will do the purchase and arrange for the drop shipping. I simply accumulated the orders from here and ConitnuousWave, and shipping addresses, collected the money, and gave it all over to Sue. Sue will contact Barbour and arrange for the pricing, and give you a per foot shipped price to advertize. Barbour drop shipped to each buyer.
For those would be buyers, I strongly recommend you order a spare for your boat (that's what did, and so did many others). If you don't need it. you will easily be able to re-sell it at a later date as it becomes scarce again, like it is now.

I would buy a couple sections if an order went together - if noone steps up soon I guess I will start one up myself.
