Went to the Yamaha outboard website and was excited to see the performance bulletin section where they have specific information on how their engines perform on boats from many different manufacturers. Was disappointed that Boston Whaler wasn't on the list and was wondering if anyone had thoughts why? I realize that you can only buy a new Whaler with a Merc now, but there are lots of guys like us with older boats that are looking to repower...
I think you already answered your own question....
It is probably because the Mercury is the only choice on a new Whaler....
Why should Yamaha waste their time doing research on boat test figures when you can't buy their product and mount it on the transom of the research vessel ????....
Yeah... Guess it wouldn't be right for them to just test the unique, timeless, rock solid, unbeatable, unmistakable, certain something boats we all know and love as the "Classic Whalers"! (too bad though...)
