Gotta 17 montauk with a T top and a 2003 75 4 stroke. Stop me if you've heard this one before... how fast should I be going? I'm maxed at about 36mph. Standard al. prop, but seems sloooowwww. The guy had a 90 merc 2 stroke before and said it was about 5 mph slower than the new honda. Make sense? Just doing the sniff check here.
The Honda 75 may not be that far off. Depends on many things, weight, wet hull, prop size etc. The T-top will definitely have an impact. 36 MPH is not bad.
The basic Montauk with a 90 should run close to 40 MPH or faster if all is well. I have 17ft Super Sport limited with a Yamaha 90; it runs in the 40s... Something does not sound quite right with Merc setup though. I would think that even an old Merc, 6-cyl version would run a bit faster than low 30s...
Hope that helps

The Whaler is the one I like the best!!!
My old 17 footer will do about 35 MPH running a 2000 70HP Johnson with an aluminum prop and good bottom paint. But that's with just me onboard and the water's gotta be glassy.
