Hello all, i am the new owner of my first b/w and the more i figure out, the more questions i have. I just picked up a 1993, 19' Outrage II. The boat is a fresh water boat and is in good shape. The glass is oxidized but is going to be rubbed out and waxed this week. I have tested a few spots on the hull and deck and the results are great, the boat is going to look great. I will post some pictures later.
What is the deal with the built in fuel tank? It this a huge problem? I see a few posting and i am worried. My tank was almost empty when i bought is but i didn't figure it would be a problem. I have crawled all around the boat and didn't smell any strong gas smells. I figure i am OK, I hope. I am going to put 25-30 gallons in it this week. The needle is below 1/4 tank right now.
Do any of you have recommendations on props? I have a 93' Johnson 150 Oceanrunner. I would be interested in hearing some top end speeds and fuel usage if possible.
What about the wash down pump? I have the switch on the dash but no pump or supply nozzle to hook up the hose. Has anyone installed this feature on boats that came without this option? No aerator in the live well either.
Also, the roll down door on the cc is missing, where can i get a new one or what are other options?
Any help you guys can give me with this boat would be appreciated. It has some very cool features and I have very excited to get this restored.
I also need canvas so if any of you have some in good shape please let me know.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing some of your suggestions. If you have pictures please let me know how I can view these as well.
I would not worry about the tank much at all. Pressure test it if you are really worried about it but I do not think you need to. As for a wash done pump, get a Gaim Shurflo pump. Installed one on my 22 as a remote bidge pump for the fuel tank cavity and it worked well. I know others who have the pumps installed in the OEM Whaler super leaning posts and love them.
As I stated before do not worry about getting a roll down door and create a panel in that area to flush mount all of your new electronics. If you want a new door though contact Sue at Twin Cities.
hi jeff, i am planning on flush mounting the electronics but would like to have the door as protection. i want to set the face of the electronics just far enough back to allow the door to pull down for protection. might work, haven't looked into it far enough. what i really need is a door to get look at so i can copy it. i am sure whaler didn't make their own doors so they may be available. i want to install the pump but i am not sure where the pump is pulling the water and if it is a thru hull, where is this going to be installed?
Check with Sue because if the door is availible she will have it or know where you can get it.
With your hull a freshwater wash down pump usually would get mounted under one of your rear jump seats. For the pick up either a freshwater pickup installed thru the transom or there would be a hose that would run from the pump into the splashwell and over the transom.
