After receiving some feedback about my mount I have decided alter the design to include an additional means of securing the aft end of the mount to the hull. This will be easily accomplished by installing a 3/8" stainless steel eye within the mount's upper aft panel. A 3/8" stainless steel turnbuckle will then be used to connect the bow eye's eye nut to the aforementioned 3/8" eye bolt. The additional security measure should greatly reduce the risk of shearing the norman pin when operating in rough conditions. Should the mount's locking key interfere with the turnbuckle, then the aft edge of the locking key will simply be notched to provide the necessary clearance for the turnbuckle to be tightened or loosened. This modification will also provide additional protection against the mount's locking key inadvertently backing out. This photo will be updated after making this modification.
