Speciality Products, as well as others, have ready made Classic whaler seats. Like those in the late 60's and early 70's (Nauset, Eastport, Sakonnet). Does anyone have or know where I could find detailed plans to construct one of these. Speciality's are really nice, but not in my budget.
Thanks,
Tommy

Thanks for the suggestion Joe. I looked at his personal pages. Awesome job.
How about console and seat plans for a 1973 21' Outrage. That is the boat I am redoing now, and I have nothing to use as a templet. I am considering using consoles and seats from Eastports, Nauset, etc. but I don't know.
Thanks,
Tom

Tommy,
The plans are available in the downloads section of WC. They are very detailed (39 pages long) and you should be able to recreate the console and seats from the Eastport/nauset. Depending on your woodworking skill, I suggest making a template out of either MDF or plywood so you can make any adjustments on cheaper materials, rather then messing up a good piece of mahogany or teak.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm really looking for the console measurements for a 21' 70 Outrage. I was just thinking that the Eastport/Nauset helm seat would look good. Still haven't ruled it out. I am not a purist.
Making templets out of cheaper material is a great suggestion.
Thanks.

Tommy,
You keep changing what you are looking for.
First it was the Nauset/Eastport/Sakonnet seats
Then is was a 1973 Outrage 21' console and seats
And now you say a 21' 1970 Outrage console measurements.......
What boat do you want the information on? and what piece?
The console or seat? or both? or one or the other?
If you have a 1973 Outrage 21', please be specific as most all models are different.
If you are looking for something for the 1973 Outrage 21', then the console looks like this from 1973 to 1976 and it is fiberglass.
Look at the 1973 to 1976 console here.

The seat for a 1973 Outrage 21' is the Teak RPS.
Take a look at that here.

Also, take a look at the members personal pages for other 1973 Outrage 21' models.
You will see what the boat looks like.
Here is one:

Please be more specific when asking questions so we are all on the same page.

Actually Joe, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. My boat is a '73 21' Outrage. I have a single Todd helm seat in there now, and the boat came with a leaning post (not installed). A leaning post is certainly not original and I'm not sure I want it. The console is a whaler console, and it appears to be from that era, but who knows. I am toying with the idea of making the console you usually see in the '70s ribside, and maybe the helm seat from a nauset or eastport. I am not a purist, so I don't care about "original", only functionality and looks. A marine dealer near me ( a Whaler dealer from 1960 until Bob Daugherty started Edge Water and Whaler told him he couldn't carry both, and he would have to give up Evinrude and Yamaha), told me there were various consoles and helm seats used, and you really can't go by the year in the early '70s. Customers order whatever they wanted, within reason.
So, I apologize for the confusion. Believe me, my own head is spinning.
So any and all suggestions and help will be appreciated. This is a work in progress, and I will be using the boat while I modify.

Well, maybe we can set a few things straight for you.

We know.......
Look at the link I posted above on consoles. That is what yours should look like or it isn't original. 1973-1976
1. There was only ONE console available for the 1973 Outrage 21' that you have.
My suggestion. Keep it if it is original.. Why change it from the original and spend extra dollars?
2. The 1973 Outrage 21' came standard with a Pompanette single swivel seat less arms, rod holder and gimbal.
(Are you sure you don't have the original Pompanette seat???)
Optional seating was the Teak backed Reversible Pilot Seat or a Pilot Seat w/Fibegrlass insulated storage base. There was also the option of 2 Pompanette seats with or without gimbals, rod holders and armrests.
If you have one seat already, maybe get another to match and you're done.....

The console I have is the one shown for '73-'76. The helm seat is a Todd Freeport pedestal, no arms, etc. I doubt it is original. I will post some pics in the near future and let the experts decide.
Thanks,
Tommy

Joe, I do have a question. Is there a measurement as to where the center console should be? This Whaler has what I assume is a forward casting platform and placing a 92 qt cooler in front of the console would mean having to step up and down every time you wanted to go around the front of the console.
Thanks
