What color is the oil and what does it smell like? If it's black and smells a little burnt, it's just excess oil from the exhaust. If not, than the shaft seal in your lower unit could be going bad. That happens sometimes if you get tangled up in some fishing line. You might want to take a look at your lower unit oil, or just drain it. If it looks milky, that's a sure sign of water intrusion. If not, then put some new gear oil in and call it good.

Is your motor oil injected or pre mixed?

Also most lower units have seals around the prop shaft. Take the prop off and all the washers or spacers and inspect that first seal. Clean it up carefully and check it a few hours later. They pretty cheap and boats.net should have anything you need.

I had the same concern with my brand new e-tec 150HP. Dealer told me not to warry about that.

I agree with the above post. I think it's just unburnt oil from the exhaust. First time this happened to me I got real worried. But, this only happens once in a while, and the amount that drips out is tiny.

That much oil dripping from the exhaust means the fuel air mixture is too rich or there is some other problem such as not running on all cylinders. Your plugs, if not fouled already, soon will be.

If that was my brand new etec dripping like that i'd take it back to the dealer. Either he's full of poop and hoping you'll go away or his techs don't know what they're talking about. A very small amount, maybe but not as much as your picture shows. Especially when they are advertised as "clean" engines. Thats a sure sign of an excessive amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust.
