Here is a puzzle, I am trying to find an air silencer, or air box as they call it for the above motor without success. So far one outboard repairman told me that there was no such thing for this motor. However in looking here and there I find air silencers or air boxes for models of motors older than mine, and smaller and larger than mine. Just cannot find any catalogs that list it so far. Could this repairman be correct there is no air silencer or air box for this engine? Hard to believe the carb just sits there without one. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, I did look up the parts on the site that you mentioned, and they do not show or list an air silencer or air box for my particular engine. I have looked at other parts catalogs as well, with no luck.

Perhaps the outboard mechanic is correct for that year they list air silencers for the 40hp and up but nothing for below 40hp, like my 30hp. Seems to be the difference in carbs. Anyway if anyone finds one let me know thanks.

The 2 cylinder 31.8 cu in. (25, 30, 35hp)OMC from 1976 to at least 1999(I had one from both years) never had an airbox. This motor was built until 2005.
