I may need to replace the Teleflex steering cable on my 16'7" Center Console Whaler. Can anyone give me the length cable I should order for replacement? I know I could measure my existing cable but I think it maybe longer than needed.

Currently I have an old style helm without the quick connect fitting. Has anyone had any issues with the teleflex quick connect adapter?

I am considering replacing the helm too. Is the "No Feed Back" helm worth the extra couple of dollars?

I'd love to go with the Baystar Hydraulic setup but it's a good chunk of change more then the mechanical systems.

Take a look at these articles in the article section under Outboard Rigging.

Thanks, Joe. On my personal page, the 6th photo down shows my cable as is. It looks like mine is more than 18'! My oil container sits in the starboard rear corner. I wonder if it was rigged that way to avoid the oil tank... mmm.

You want an 18' steering cable.

Ah. I had assumed you had a Montauk.

If that console is not set in the same spot with the helm the same height above the floor and the cable routed the same direction coming out of the helm as a Montauk, then the cable length recommendation may not be valid.

I suggest you measure or see if you can get a part number off of the existing cable.
