Any suggestions for obtaining a new gas tank for a 1988 Montauk? Ordered one and it disintegrated in 4 years.

Here are some photos of the newer 24 gallon Moellor tank installed.

I assume you had a Pate fiberglass tank that degraded due to ethanol.

You have many choices.

Plastic or Aluminum
twin 6 gallon, twin 12, single 24.
Red or white (plastic) or painted (aluminum)

Check out Moeller for plastic and Mirax for aluminum.

Joe, thanks for the feedback. Where did you get the gray base that the tank sits on?
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

Not my boat.
However, take a look through the OEM Parts Photo section.

Look for "Fuel Tank Mat"...

By the way, your 1988 Montauk had the reddish/brownish colored mats just like the one in the link I gave you above.
For a single tank installation, you would need to cut the inside lips off of both the mats.
