This is hypothetical. . . .but I thought it was an interesting question for the Whaler faithful.

Would you rather take a brand new 2010 BW Outrage 25 with all the bells/whistles/upgrades that are available right now. .with whatever engine you wanted.

or

Would you take a 1985 BW Outrage 25, in pristine showroom condition. .with all the bells/whistles/upgrades that were available in 1985. .all teak in exceptional condition. With whatever engine(new or old) you wanted. Never been in the water.

Which one would you take and why? Price is not an issue b/c they are both free.

Add another condition... Resale is not an option either - you are going to be buried with the boat.

What I think you want to know is which boat people prefer to drive, right? The 2010 is worth a lot more money, so most everyone will choose it for that reason...

I sure like those 25's from the 1980's...

Yes exactly. . which of these boats would you rather drive and spend your time on? Resale/monetary value does not apply.

I gotta say I'd take the 85 b/c I think it has more character. . .plus I'm more of an old school kind of dude.

If I fished offshore more, I would take the new one (air conditioned helm, head inside console, etc). I typically fish the bays, so I would rather a classic 25.

2010 for me since limited to Outrage. Protection from the weather is one of the main reasons. If a Frontier 25 was one of the options I'd go for it.

The 85. Hands down. Especially with a pair of 150 Etecs on the back. If nothing more- it's the unique Whaler design I grew up dreaming of - the smirk, the lines, the teak. It was unique and arguable the best boat of the day. That can not be said for today's Whalers.

Not even a second thought about this one. New one with Mercury Verados. I've gotten real used to the new technology.

I'm with mattgeiger exactly. And that is the plan to be my next Whaler. although i'm leaning to twin 175 E TECS :)

I'll take the 85... Classic Beautiful lines... Throw a pair of Yamaha F150's on the transom and I'd be all set...
