It's the "Clam Shell" vent that allow's the bow locker to drain while "Under way", there should be a plug for the other side of the drain in the bow locker, if not, it's easily available at any marine store.

YMS, here is an article on how to repair the thru-hull drain tubes. http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...icle_id=42 I would recommend replacing it soon. This is probably how it looks now in your hull http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...oto_id=663 A bad thru-hull tube will allow water to get into your hull/foam.

ahhh. the seller told me he recently replaced the thru-hulls. Could he be referring to other ones? How many Thru-Hulls are there on an 18' Outrage?

18 Outrage & GTX Outboard Models

These models have five drain tubes (four on GTX Outboard)—three in the transom splashwell, one in the starboard aft floor sump, and one in the bow locker (not on 18 GTX Outboard).

The three transom splash well drains should be left open at all times. The sump drain, when left open, will allow water to enter the sump and tunnel area. The level will depend on power option and weight. Additional rain or washdown will exit because of the hull buoyancy. The fuel tank area will drain to the sump. If the optional bilge pump is installed and left on automatic, the sump drain should be plugged to prevent constant running of the pump. The bow anchor locker drains directly through the hull via its own drain tube. We recommend leaving this drain plug out to allow rain water to exit.

YMS,

Yes, we are aware of how many drains are on the Outrage 18 and GTX models.

However, the 3 transom splash well drains may or may not need to be plugged at all times. That is an individual preference depending on whether or not people keep coolers or other gear in the transom splash well... Same goes with any other drain as these are individual prefs on what you want or what you need.

If you take a look through all of our OEM Part Photos, you will see many OEM photos of parts.
Here is one on the Clam Shells and there are 2 different sizes.
