Anyone know of where we can get new Steering Gears in Washington State. We were our fishing a few weeks ago off Orcus Island, and the steering gears in the steering assmeply under the wheel all stripped out, and we need to replace them. Luckily the capt. in all his wisdom tied our fishing net onto the big engine and we used the handle as a huge tiller!.. always an adventure in a Whaler...

Conrad -

Welcome to WC.

I don't know of a source for just the gears inside the "helm". When owners have chipped gears, replacing the entire helm is the recommended solution.

Knowing what brand and model of helm you have will help find a replacement.
