I finished winterizing my boat and I removed all the gas from the tank. When I looked in the tank it had a lot of sediment and was almost peeling on the inside. I removed it and got rid of it. My old tank was an 18 gallon under the seat type. My question is should I go with another flat under the seat model or go with two smaller tanks? I was also wondering if the ethanol could have made the tank go bad? I want to stay with a plastic tank, what brand would you recommend?

I missed what material your old tank was made out of. If fiberglass, the ethanol interacts with the resin and slowly breaks down. This trash will find it's way to your motor.

There is also a chance one of the components in the old tank (gasket, draw tube, screen etc) was impacted by the ethanol.

Plastic tanks are not affected by ethanol-blended fuels. Moeller is a decent brand that offers various sizes.

I personally recommend using Stabil marine fuel treatment (or Startron) with every fill-up. For the winter, drain any portable tank.
