I have a rage 14 and have what I believe is probably a common problem. When fishing the boat with 2 big guys, the boat starts filling up with water through the drainage holes back near the rear seat. No big deal if we stay in the back of the boat. When one of us goes forward and fishes off the bow the front deck fills up with water (no drainage in the front). I believe this could be fixed by replacing the existing drainage ports with some sort of one way port on the existing holes so water goes out, but does not come in… Anyone ever do this, or knows if I can retrofit what I have? Save the lose weight comments; it is all muscle…..

I have seen inserts that for lack of a better term look like duck bills. The water pressure keeps them shut but they allow water to drain out when it gets in the boat. Kind of a cheap one way valve. Don't know where to get them but have seen them on a few occasions.

These are called "Scupper" drains...

There are different types. Some use one way flaps and others use a type of ping-pong ball...

Go to your local kayak outfitter and they'll have what are called scupper plugs for sale or you can just cut up a pool noodle and make your own. You may also try the local big box stores for rubber stoppers in the specialty hardware section similar to rubber stoppers for beakers from chemistry class. My kayak has both and I would recommend you put a small length of parachute cord through it so you have the ability to "pull the plug" in a hurry should you take on water.
