I am fixxing to redo an older (64) 13' I have. I have had a lot of interest in center console models I have seen. Does anyone have any plans or general diminsions of a center consol I can build? Also ant advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone have a source for the corner blocks I see on some boats for retaining ice ches?

Basically you need to overcome where/how to run cable to the center console without falling over them then for width wise, I would say 24 -28 inches is about max. that way you have room to move on both sides of the console, although not much.
The corner blocks for coolers are a standard igloo item. you can get them at anyplace that sells igloo parts.

Thanks. I have seen several boats where the cabling is run thru the center and partially covered with seats and such. I was planning on laying down some kind of grate over the center depression and under that should be a great place for cabling. I dont want to cut the splash bulkhead and will have to deal with that when I get there. A 28" console widthh will work great for what I was planning. Moving my gas tanks under the console to get some weight forward. Thanks again for the coment.

My console is 30 inches tall at the tallest, not including the windshield which is 8 more inches on top of that, 26 inches wide and 19 inches deep at the deepest. I would either go wider or narrower next time as 26 inches seemed to fit right about where the depression in the deck section starts on either side. I had planned on placing it farther forward so that would not be an issue, but resolved to move it closer to the original location in regard to fore and aft for space reasons. as you can see in my project album, I left the front thwart seat in and ran the cables from the motor, up the gunnel behind the seat clamps, which I left in, under that front thwart and then into the front on the console, using some radiator hose as a grommet/sheath. I quite like how it turned out.

A larger side console like this eliminates all of the problems encountered with a center console in a Whaler without a rigging tunnel.

Well nothing is set in stone yet, I am still looking at all the options. I have a lot of ground work to do before I build anything. You know the fun stuff, filling holes, sanding, feathering stuff out, sanding. and did I mention sanding?
