I just got one of my 70's trim/tilt issue resolved thanks ultimately to elmroc on this forum. I now have a new problem. Motor was not in use for 6 weeks or so. After getting the trim tilt fixed, I try to start them each up and they both just chug - dead batteries.
I charge one up and that engine fires right up with muffs flowing. After 10 seconds still no water stream out the water pump indicator hose. After sitting, I tried one more time for 10 seconds, no flow. Shut it down and checked all connections I touched recently when looking into the t/t problem.
What's my next step? -Mark

Check the muffs, I have the same motor and it won't pee unless the muffs are in the righ position.

I bet the waterpump is fine. Try it again.

Mark,

I have had similar problems. In my area insects like to lay eggs inside the "pee hole" Try running a thin flexable wire inside the hole and see if you dislodge anything

Mark,

I don't think 10 seconds is long enough on muffs.
It takes longer than that for the stream to start coming out...

My 70 doesn't pee at all on the muffs unless I hold them tight against the lower unit. What you're seeing is perfectly normal.

Did it pee okay before the motor sat for 6 weeks?

A rough way to see if the engine is at normal operating temp. and the "Cooling" system is working, is to hold your finger on the head next to the spark plug when running. You should be able to hold it there for a 1-2-3 second count before it start's to burn your finger, and you need to remove it.

Thanks All,

Mike was right on - I looked up in the tube and it looked like dried mud in there. I stuck a wire in and out it came, with what looked like a little worm.

I am happily peeing now. -Mark
