Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Trailer Winch Sizing

Snapped the cable on our 2 year old Venture trailer winch yesterday when loading at a shallow ramp. In looking at replacement cables and winches (considering a 2 speed winch), am wondering what capacity I should buy? Figure the boat/motor/gear is about 3800 lbs but am not sure what the actual load is when cranking the boat on?

Also, anyone have any opinions or experience with 2 speed winches?
