Any body got some ideas on building a stern casting platform or pictures?

I would take a look at all the Montauk in the personal page section to get some ideas. Some people made their own stern platforms.

I have what I think is a factory option rear casting platform for a 17 It is fiberglass with a little fish well molded in the center. I do not see your e mail in your profile. Send me your email address and I will send you some measuerments and pictures.

Blake thank you for the email I have never seen this type of platform before. Do you want to sale it? If it is factory equipment I think Joe Kriz might like to add the pictures to the site. I will not forward to Joe / these are your your pictures.
Thanks again...

There were some platforms for the Striper and Bass models from the factory if I remember correctly.

Always interested in photos....

Fish: Previous owner of my family's 17' whaler crafted a forward, hinged casting platform from mahogany planks (possibly the original bench seats from what I now know was a super sport model). I have it disassembled at present for refinishing. I can take some pictures of the wood back in 'original' to me locations (mostly; some wood will have to be replaced) in a few weeks when I'm back at the beach. Basically, 1" square x 2' long or so narrow runners go down the inside lip of the hull. The planks (2 @ approx. 1"x12"x5'; 1 @ approx 1" x 4" x 5') cross the hull and rest on the runners forming the top of the platform. Two sets of double hinges allow access inside the platform. The back side of the platform (facing center console) was some type of thin fiberglass. It was not watertight and eventually deteriorated as the boat has aged. I am looking for a replacement piece, and considering different options for the material. It was thin (maybe 1/8" thick), but it was cut to match the concave contour of the hull up front. You wouldn't have that problem in the stern since the floor is basically flat (except for small drainage channels).
