Hello I am new here, looks like a great site. My brother just picked up an 18' Whaler from an auction. He has been wanting one for a long time. This boat needs a ton of work as you can see from the pics. We want to keep this boat so we would like to fix it right. It is an 86' 18' and has a 175 Rude on her looks like a newer 05' or so.I am not sure the modle or how much fuel it might hold. It has two holes that go into the foam. Is the foam closed cell foam or am I going to have to remove and replace? The deck has cracks in the gelcoat, not to sure how bad but they don't look to bad. Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming underneath the word "RESCUE" it says "ME"???

Lots of work to do, but you'll love it when your done. The foam will accept some water, don't be alarmed. On this site we have been discussing how to remove as much water from the foam as possible. We've pretty much come to the conclusion that you'll never get it all. And what you can't get won't kill the boat or you.

By the way, try not t post so amny photos in the futre to your threads. Start a personel page ad post them there.

First of all, welcome to WhalerCentral.

Second, the forum section is not designed to host photos. It slows down the loading time for the forum section and forces people to view photos instead of reading. If they want to view photos, they can click on a link to the photos.
Please make a personal page for your photos here on WhalerCentral.
You can however put one line to your photo album that is hosted off site. I did this for you in your post above.

While she has seen a hard life, she can be brought back.

For the holes you reference, the mashed bow eye in the photo and any other hole, these will need to be sealed. Getting the hull sealed up should be your first priority. This is a hands on DIY support site so members can help you every step of the way with techniques, products etc.

Your brother is going to have fun.

On the top menu bar (going across) is Articles. Click on this, drill down to repairs and review Joe's article on repairing holes.
