I have very recently purchased this boat and it seems to be in great shape for its age. I am however planning to fish until colder weather in this boat and then I plan to restore it to a better condition. I am however wondering if any of you guys use a trolling motor on the front of your boat. I am curious if someone makes a bracket that you can mount an Minn Kota riptide series on the front of this boat without having to do serious damage to the hull. Any help will be greatly aprreciated on this and thank you for your time. BTW this is a great board and site!!! Please feel free to also check out my website!!

Sorry I cant help you on the mount for the motor but I am in the situation you are. I just purchased a 1970 katama and I want to do the same thing. Currently I am using an old transom motor to help me fish but want to go to a bow mount with a remote control foot pedal.

The only lead I can give you is from another forum. A flyfishing guide in south jersey commented that he owned whalers in the past and had a custom mount made for his bow motor. I dont know if he had someone fabricate it or hed did it. He goes by the handle of capemay ray. He posts on the bassbarn forum under the saltwater flyfisherman discussion.

I have not called him or asked him myself, yet.
