Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: pre-2002 17' Montauk weight for lift?

I need to know out the approximate weight of a pre-2002 Montauk with 90-100 hp outboard for a boat lift installation. Would need the weight for just the boat, outboard, full gas tank, and minimal gear. I will add my body weight to that figure to calculate the approximate maximum weight. I do not want to oversize my lift significantly for cost reasons, but at the same time, I certainly don't want to undersize it. Thanks in advance, Clay

Clay,

The hull weight is listed in Whaler Model Specifications section as 900 lbs. There is some anecdotal information that this was a conservative figure. It includes the RPS, console and rails.

As for your engine, what brand, horsepower and year is it?

It may be easier to load it on to a trailer (weigh it first), then go to a certified scale with the typical load to get a precise weight.
