Hi everyone.
Just wondering of some options for infront of the console for a 1990 17 montauk. On my personal page the 'crooked' picture shows that there isnt anything there, but there are 3 screws plugging holes of something that used to be there. they are in a line angled from the width of the console close to it, towards the middle of the boat - 3 per side.

Does anyone have any pictures of what was originally there, or some of your own setups?

I probably want to put a cooler of some sort.

No telling what was there, that is what the beauty of the Whaler is, these boat get fitted to the needs of the owner. The most common option is the cooler with a cushion, and rod holders wiith a cushion for a back rest mounted to the front of the console.
Glad to see you got it!

You can install a cooler with cushions. See the bottom of my personal page.

The three screws on each side tell us you boat had a pair of Montauk style cooler chocks mounted there (and, presumably, a cooler on top of them.)

The Igloo 94 quart (or the 72 quart) Marine coolers are the most versatile seating and storage solution for the Montauk.

Plans for the chocks can be found in the download section and the Igloo coolers can be bought just about anywhere.

With an OE quality cushion from Hall's Nautical Upholstery and a set of cooler hooks from your local Whaler dealer, you will have a beautiful seat with dry storage beneath it. It will really dress up your boat.

Boat looks great. I would consider getting a plastic gas tank and getting rid of the fiberglass one. They will decompose if ethanol is in the fuel and clog your fuel system.
