Just bought a BW Squall for my 10 year old son. Unforntunately, I don't know how to sail it or set up the sail and rigs. Is there anyway to get info or a owners manual?
Thanks

Growing up, my buddies sister had a Squall. We did sail it quite a bit. I remember it being a bit sluggish... Still have many wonderful memories. Once my father bought his 17' Hobie Cat, we never went back to the Squall. Sorry I can't help you more than that. I'm actually looking to buy a Squall for my children to enjoy.

I Lived on my sailboat, a Cascade 29, for 8 years and used a squall for my dinghy. I know of only two other people who I lived around who also had the same dinghy for that length of time. Everyone else changed inflatable(maypop) dinghies every year or two. I pretty much learned to sail on it. I've dived off of it for money and for fun. I towed a 29' sailboat in Monterey Bay for 8 miles with my squall(I've honestly forgotten how much towing I've done with this boat and the same 3hp evinrude). I even planed it once towing it, DON'T do it. I learned to tow it long distances too, need the right rigging. I have been through heavy weather in the same bay on that dinghy. I caught my first Halibut off my squall too. I even learned to lift it onto my deck and launch it again by myself. You couldn't pry that boat out of my cold dead fingers and I cursed myself for losing the rig for it. I'm on the lookout for a replacement before I build one.

See if these folks can help you out. http://www.ruach.net/Harpoon.shtmlpoon.shtml

You might also want to enrol yourself and your son in a couple sailing lessons.
