i was wondering what you guys averaged for fuel economy on 16-17 ft montauks...i was thinking that an older style (80s) basic 2 stroke evinrude might be in the ballpark of 3 mpg, maybe more/less? also wondering how the newer engines compared to one of these older 2 carbureted 2 strokes....any one have any ideas...thanks

Nate,

Even a conventional two stroke 90 HP motor should easily be able to produce 4-5 MPG on a Montauk.

I have an 05 Johnson 50 hp, just a reg 2 -stroke, I did notice that the motor is very quiet, much less noise that the older motors. Gas milage is GREAT, all day on 6 gallons of fuel. (15' sport)

I have a 2000 90 hp carb two stroke Johnson. I put lots of hours on the Montauk. I get 3.5+. That is usually with 60% running to and from the grounds and 40% trolling at 7 knots. Mark
