I'm concerned that my Whaler 15 Super Sport with Evinrude 70 (SS prop) is not as efficient as it used to be. Does anyone have an estimate of the fuel economy for this combination in miles per gallon? I know there are lots of other variables, but I'm looking for a ballpark figure. Thanks you!

Try to remember Ron, it is a carb 2-stroke. It should'nt be too bad as it is a small 3 cyl. I would go with Tom's estimate.

My 40 hp, 3cyl, 3 carb 2-stroke doesn't do much better than Toms estimates too.

Ron,
Is "not as efficient as it used to be" compared to the SS configuration? Possibly you're more comfortable and running faster.

Estimate is right on at WOT. Dropping rpm to 4000 or so can reduce consumption as much as half depending on how you load and trim the boat out after planing.

At a moderate cruising speed of 25 to 28 MPH, (~4000 RPM, 4 GPH) you should be able to get better than 6 MPG. Overall, an average of 5 MPG for all speeds is typical.
