One 12 gallon tank has fuel from last year. I topped off the 12 gallon can and added fuel stabilizer. Will that keep the varnish, etc. from gumming up the engine?

I think the old gas will be fine to use. I've used year old gas before but mixed it with fresh fuel. Your carbs will only "Varnish" if the fuel in the carb bowls evaporates over and over again. Each time the fuel evaporates in the carb, it leave a residue behind.....varnish.

Be sure there's no water in the fuel tank. As water is heavier than gas, you'll be able to see the water pooling on the bottom of your tank. Water gets into your tank from the normal heating and cooling cycles of each day. Unless you keep your boat in a somewhat moderate storage area, you're likely to have some water in your tank.

Gasoline sold in Washington State a year ago did not have ethanol added to it. Your 12 gallons will be just fine to use, do not worry about it.

I'd use it in the Lawn mower.

I had about 60 gallons from last year in my tank. Drained it and put it in my truck, no problems.
