[color=blue]I am trying to determine the size, shape and purpose of the 1/2" shim that is located under teak and mahogany pulpits on some Outrages.

Any help will be appreciated.

John,

Here is a basic drawing of the shim.
The shim rests on top of the rub rail and the angle of the shim matches the angle of the rub rail which differs on the various size models.
