i just refited by boat, and got longer battery cables ( 4 gauge), now it seems my battery is always dead. I had to jump start the battery yesterday and then ran the boat for approx. 2 hours and shut it off to get fuel and it was dead upon trying to restart, got it restarted and ran for another couple of hours, and then put a meter on the battery and it had dropped in volts ( while the engine was still running). Any advice or help would be thankful !!!

This is one reason I highly recommend have a volt meter on board at all time so you can monitor the charging system.

How many volts do you show when the engine is running about 2k or 3k RPM's ?

How old is the battery?

Test the battery with a "Hydrometer" (about $6 at any auto store). That will tell you right away if the battery is no good.

first battery was a year old, replaced with another one (load tested and verified before install), and two days ago a nother new battery.

i will verifiy the voltage at the2-3k rpms later today and will post them, i am going to meter everthimg to try to get numbers for everything. ( stator, reciefier, and battery)

Thanks to everyone giving me advice with my BW. I am thankful i can post here and spend more time riding then wondering when my boat will be out of the shop$$$.
