Hi all,

For those of us who bailed out on the Manhattan run last week due to the foul weather ... How a about a mini gathering on Greenwood Lake? Some of us are on the lake already and other frequent the lake... Ed, Norm, Kevin, and I know there are others.

Greenwood Lake is about 8 miles long and 1 to 2 mile wide. Many launch ramps, a few B&B's and places to eat on the lake.

I am thinking we can cruise the lake (about 2 hours at a slow pace) then anchor. Maybe a BBQ... a few dogs (with small rail mounted grills) Of course this suggestion is open to all? If there is interest I can research a launch and docking location that my be willing to host us at reasonable rates.

Feel free to PM me, below is a link to the lake

Hey Jon,

That sounds like a great idea. We would need to pick a date. Let me know what we can do.

All the best,

Norm

Sounds like a nice place. Depending on the date I could bring my 13 up. Summers are pretty busy for us between Florida and Ocean City but you never know, maybe the date will work.

PS

We did not bail on the Manhattan run, however we did lose an engine 2 miles from New Rochelle on the Conquest... Hired a guy to haul the boat on a trailer back to Piermont and in doing so he ripped the radar unit, search light and TV antenna right off of the hard top. He measured before he left and my boat was 13'6". Legal height !!! Verizon had a wire at 12'.... My boat lost the battle.... So not only do I need to determine what's wrong with my Opti, but I also have to repair my hard top and other equipment...

Gonna be a long summer for the Conquest... I'll be using the Revenge more than I thought.

Only for those who bailed out ?

If not set a date !

We'll mobilize the Fleet !

The Manhattan Run left us with an extensive list of owners ready willing an able, just a click away!
The lake will be choked with Whalers, how many can you handle ?

Greenwood gets a fair amount of traffic on the weekends, but if we get on the water in the morning launching should be easy.

There are a few marinas that allow day launch on the west shore on the NJ side of the lake. I personally use Greenwood Lake Small Craft and Sportsmen's Marina regularly without much fuss if I get to the lake before noon.

The South end of the lake (NJ Side) is less traveled and usually more by sailboats than motorboats. Once you get into NY there are some decent waterfront restaurants/bars that do get busy around lunch time and throughout the day if the weather is nice. Emerald Point is one of them and has good food and atmosphere, but tends to get busy with motorcycle riders in the summer.

All Are invited! :-)

How about Saturday August 1 with a rain date of the 8th? The lake is eight miles long, that is a lot of whalers...

Jon,

08/01 works for us...

If Aug 01 is a wash out, the rain date will not work. We'll be heading down to LBI for two weeks of fun in the sun.

Talk soon,

Norm

LOL @ Josh. I would LOVE to see it on the water! It has rained so much here on the east coast, I have not had a nice day to splash her. Let's hope 8/1 will be a nice day.

OK Guys,

Let's try other dates so most of us can make it...

How about a week earlier or a week later either day Sat July 25th or Aug 8th. We call also look at Sundays as rain date...

So now 3 dates to choose from the 25th, the 1st (few can't make this) and the 8th...

Who can make it on what date? check with the wives...:-) They seem to control the calendars..

July 25th would work for me

I am good for a at least part of the time on the 1st if we are on the water early in the day

The 8th is no good I am home watching the little one, while my wife goes to my sister in laws bachelorette party......

08, August is out,

25, July is a possibility, may have to take my son to school.

01, August is good and gets my vote.

The summer gets tight for me now. The boat goes back on the trailer today and heads to New Hampshire (Piscat.),then Lake George and onto Moosehead Lake the card is full . Every other weekend till Sept sees me out of town,8/1 could have worked.

(Just so everyone knows Capt. Robert and I are planning alittle get together, "Whaler Foliage Run" early October. up the Hudson. Currently looking for a venue in the West Point area. Keep you all posted.)
