Can anyone tell me where to find the serial number on a Johnson 100 Hydro electric drive motor? Not sure on the year - it was on my 67 Eastport that I'm refinishing. I found a number J3506516. Is this the serial or model #? Thanks

Hi, if you look closely at the freeze plugs on the block you should find the ser. number stamped into it, provided that the plug wasn't replaced during a rebuild. Next place would be on the transom bracket. there is usually a metal plate thats rivited to either bracket and will show mod. number and ser. number. On the block, look between the flywheel and the block itself. I'm trying to remember all the places from an old evinrude 100, 1971, engine that I had years ago. Hope this helps!!!

Whalerman......... I'll check in those areas like you suggested and I did some research with the patent # - looks to be either a 65 or 66. I'm seeing 2 numbers together stamped in but some digits are worn - need the magnifying glass for this one. Thanks

Hi Can you post a picture?? Does it have thru-hub exhaust? If it does then it's probbly late 60's to early 70's. The nomiclature Hydro- electric drive might support this. I had a '66 40hp and it was an Electro-matic (Johnson).
