Need some help. I will be looking at a 1971 boston whaler with trailer and 2002 25 h.p. mercury. The boat needs paint in the interior and a few spots to repair on the bottom. It comes with mohogany interior in fair condition. What do you guys think something like that should be bought for. Thanks for the help.

A lot of factors come into play when pricing out a boat. It's really hard to guesstimate these things. I would do a search for other 13's in and around your area, and compare prices. Search on craigslist, boattrader, etc. Then I'd be willing to bet that you can make a pretty good qualified price judgement on your own.

I'm not sure where you are at but searching craigslist for my area shows a few 13's for sale. They ranged anywhere from 2k-5k but, most were 80's models.

It is hard to put a value on a boat for someone else. That engine is fairly new so it has some value. If it has a trailer that is in good shape it should have some value. Ofter times you can get the rig for the value of the trailer and engine. I would start there and see how it goes. It depends on what the seller wants or is willing to take.

I would ask the seller what he would consider a serious "OFFER", then work from there.
