Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Water Level in 18 Outrage

I just purchased an 1987 Outrage 18 and cannot get the cavity opening to the starboard rigging tunnel pumped out. I used a portable electric bilge pump for over an hour and there is still water in the section.

It doesn't make sense to me that there would be a natural amount of water in this area of the hull?

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Keith

Keith,

Not to be too plain, but have you put plugged the thru-hull drain tube?

Plain and simple is probably what I need. Where is the thru-hull drain tube accessible from?

The drain for the boat is at the bottom of that starboard rigging tunnel access. We call this space the sump.

Lift the teak plywood cover that partially covers the sump and look down. You should find a 1" diameter drain tube that can either be left open or plugged.

If you want the sump to be dry, you must insert a rubber plug into the drain tube before pumping it out.
