I just purchased a 1986 Montauk from an individual at a fair price I consider. But, for some strange reason(I almost couldn't believe) he had a floor company carpet the floor with rubber backed in out door carpet! They used a regular contact cement to glue the carpet! I have managed to remove carpet, rubber backing and some of the glue. I have tried WD40, Acetone,Goo Gone, diesel fuel. paint thinner, 3M adhesive remover, liquid sand paper, denatured alcohol, varsol, etc. Any suggestions I might try with out damage to the gel coat? Thanks

try oil-Flo it is an indurstrial adhesive remover. Working well on my 13 with carpet and glue

The other option is to get a brass brush that you chuck into a drill. They come in 2 inch and 1 inch sizes. Don't get the steel version, the brass is softer on the gelcoat. I got mine at Lowes.

the ones on the right side of the photo, except in brass.

Check my personal page at the bottom for progress photo on the non-skid
