I have found the capacity plate and the stenciled number. Now where is the HIN # on a 18 Outrage and what does it look like? Is it more like a decal than a plate. I have a decal on the transom that is none ledgible. Could that be it?"

A decal on the transom?
Inside or outside of the transom?

What is your stencil number and where was it located?

The metal HIN plate should be on the outside of the transom and usually on the starboard side.
If you found the HIN plate, then you should be able to read it with a magnifying glass and a flashlight. Seriously....

My stencil # is A51132. You know I was in the boat checking all the plates etc. and it never occurred to me to look anywhere else.
I know all of the other boats I have had the number was stamped into the transom somewhere. I'll run down to the marina and see if I overlooked it. As much as I have buffed that thing you would think that I would remember it.

regents,

I just looked at your personal page.
You HIN plate is on the port outside transom. You can see it in your photo.

On my 1985 Outrage 18', the HIN plate is on the starboard side and I also have the same HIN plate inside the bow locker. Take a look and see if you also have another one inside your bow locker.
