I have a few general questions about my new Outrage 18

1. I noticed that when I am standing still water enters the rear area of transom through the 2 drain holes (1" or so), they drain when underway. Is this normal or am I sitting a bit too low? Maybe a bit of extra weight in hull (water?). The boat has a 85 Johnson 140hp on back. Battery is in console, so minimal weight is in rear.

2. I want to paint bottom and hull and want to move boat off trailer. What is prefered means of holding boat off ground? Stands, Cradle, etc? I am not sure what paint was used on hull (was repainted white), I removed some decals and paint came off with them, I will look to remove and repaint.

3. I need to go some glass work on outer lip under rub rail. I have the rub rail that has rope inserted in it. To remove rub rail, do I remove rope? How hard will it be once I remove to re-install? Is there anything I should do or aviod?

I have 3 drain tubes in the transom of my 1985 Outrage 18'. All 3 of these are 1 1/4" brass drain tubes. Do you only have 2 ?

1. It is normal for water to be in the splashwell of the Classic Outrage 18's.....

2. Bottom Paint... Whatever you prefer... Lots of ways to do it. Paint everything you can and then move the boat to the sides using jacks is one way of doing it. Or, like you mention, stands or cradle.

3. Remove the rope and throw it away. It is not original. Then remove the rivets (or screws if it has been replaced sometime down the line) and go about repairing the lip and then replacing the rub rail with a new one that is of the original style...
