Can anyone help with the correct position of the RPS. I have an 1988 18' Outrage that came with a leaning post original equipment. Just got an RPS from another member of this site. How far back from the center console should the RPS be located?
Also I have read some posts about others who have raised the RPS. What is the benefit of so doing? And how high is recommended. Thanks much, Rob.

Things like this should be posted here so everyone can see them.
I believe these measurements have already been posted.
The distance is 18 inches from the bottom of the console to the front of the Z leg...

judge with your a$$. position the RPS where you think you want it, and then walk around it, is there enough room. This is important if you have or think you want a stern seat.
If you tilt it forward can you use the top as a leaning post of sorts, can you sit on the seat and reach the wheel, throttle, can you see over the console and can you see the GPS. I am convinced that the majority of the time the employees rigging the boats didn't measure they went by feel. Each boat was unique so an inch here or there wasn't critical.

Everyone I have every measured has been 18 inches plus or minus a 1/8 inch roughly.
I do think Whaler measured where the console was mounted and where the RPS was mounted.
