I hate to do it but i must take it out. There is pitting on the top so what is on the bottom? My question: Is the bottom of the tank glued down or is it just the sides that have been foamed in?

The bottom is not glued down. Once you remove the foam from the sides the tank will pop right out. There is no easy way about this job! I tried everything before just digging out the foam. I even flooded the tank cavity to try to get the hydraulic pressure to pressure to pop the tank. It just made the job wet and bad.

Thanks, What if the tank can not be repaired? Can it be repaired and should I or should i try and have one made? Does any one sell these tanks? What should it be made of? Glass, alum. plastic?

The original tank was made by Florida Marine Tanks and replacement tanks are available through them. All you have to do is give them the dimensions of your old tank.
I have read that many members of WC have bought tanks from FMT. Gigem just got one for his '77 Outrage, and I think that he was pleased with the quality.

Yes, I bought a tank from FMT. Fit like a glove.

identical to original, except no mechanical fuel gauge. came with electrical sender, so I had to buy a gauge for the dash.

I pulled it out. It took some doing but after much pain it came right up. I would rather go back with plastic. What do you think?

I would too, but if the 19' is any thing like my 21' you will have a hard time finding a tank to fit in the hull space. Most plastic below deck tanks are too tall. I have conceded that a coated FMT is the only way to go. I feel like I have exhausted every other option (stock/custom stainless, poly, aluminum), but for that space the original tank seems like the best solution. The only thing that I am not sure of is what is the best way to secure the tank.
