I am in need of a replacement for the prop on my Outrage 18. I have a Johnson 120. The current prop is an aluminum piece put on by the previous owner. It appears that stainless steel is the better way to go. What size and pitch? How about four blade vs three?

Troy,
Let me take this opportunity to offer some advice to anybody who is seeking a propeller recommendation. Always provide the following basic information:
- Model and year of boat.
- Model and year of motor.
- Gear ratio of the motor.
- Maximum recommended RPM at WOT
- Current specifications of propeller used including pitch, brand, model and/or part number.
- Current best top speed at WOT (measured with a GPS)
- Current maximum RPM with the current prop.
- Mounting elevation of motor on transom, expressed in number of bolt holes up.
With all this information it is fairly easy to estimate what size prop would work well. We often do not have all this information which is OK if the boat/motor combination is a common one, but any blanks that can be filled in will help.
