Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Need help identifying year of Honda engine

I am going to look at a Tender this weekend and the owner told me the engine, a 9.9 4-stoke is a 2006 or 2007. Here is a pic of the engine.

This does not look like the newer Honda to me. Any thoughts? The guy wants $2100 for boat motor and trailer. It is a 9' Tender.

I would get the model and serial number and then check with a Honda dealer.

I have a 2000 25 HP Honda and the graphics look the same as that one, but the engine casing is a lot rounder and sleeker. Not so squared off at the back. I would have guessed 1998 - 2003.

Rich, I requested the serial and model #'s from the guy, he was telling me this is a 2007. I saw the pics of a 2007 and the engine is a little more round, not squared off like this one.

Sounds like a very reasonable price for the setup.

Might save a call to a dealer, from my 2005 Honda Rigging Manual.
