I am curious, my 1981 18-OUTRAGE capacity plate says:5 passengers capacity. Other 18-OUTRAGEs I have seen are reated for 7 passengers what gives? My boat is # 48 made in MAY 1981.I see Joe has new screens to make replacements? hmmmmm.

Actually I gave the files to Joe to post here. I have remade all of the capacity plates you can down load here on the site and I have others that are not listed here yet. The file I used to remake the 18 outrage capacity plate came from an 1987 18 outrage. Your plate must be from the wrong boat seeing how the 17' ers have, and to knowledge always have had a capacity of 7 people or 885lbs.

What is your plate rating for wieght?

I will check it out when I get home from work.I am having a tough time beleiving that it is not the original.The last owner had the boat for 15 years in his garage and it (the plate) is good shape. You have my gears going now! If you could make a repro. beers on me the next time(ever?) you are in B.C. Now I just want to blast out of here and go home to check this out! Will be back!!

Well this is interesting! Here are the details:5 PERSONS OR 665LBS , 1745 LBS PERSONS MOTOR ,GEAR, 150.0 HP MOTOR, MODEL- 18 . The last line is "THE BOATING INDUSTRY ASSOTIATION" The Boston Whaler Inc is the same but Rockland,MA is in small print.The plate is the same layout as the ones on this site so what do you think?Could it be the very first early run 18's were rated this way?The plate looks very original and I could see it being wrong if the size and HP were different but this looks like one to Email the factory on possibly?

There are 3 people with 1981 Outrage 18's on the list.
Maybe they will chime in here and let you know what their Capacity Plate says.
If not, you might try and contact them.
It would be interesting to know what they have.
You also might want to submit your numbers and information for this list. We can put the Capactiy Plate information on the list as a point of interest....

I can just make out Matt Frymier's plate and his says"7" I beleive hull # 09 is at the marina .I will get my buddy to see if he can read the plate on it. I may email Boston Whaler but I don't know who I would contact.Any suggestions?

Reply from Chuck Bennett. My 18'Outrage was built in the old Norwell,MA factory."All of the 1981 18'Outrage models (first year of production)had the 5 person 1925lbs max. weight capacity." Well the mystery is solved!
