You should have a metal tag somewhere on your boat unless it has been removed.
You gave us the stencil number.
We need the number from the metal tag which is the HIN number. (Hull Identification Number)

This number should start with BWC and some letters and numbers after that...

If you cannot find your metal tag, then you will have to contact Boston Whaler directly.
The Boston Whaler Catalogs don't start listing the 9 footer until 1977.... unless you have a Squall 9 footer... The squall has a centerboard....

Did the squalls have metal tags on them? There is no metal tag on mine.

Is the boat in question a 9' Squall or a 9' Tender?

So back to the original question. I have a 9ft with the metal plate at the back. That is the HIN number. On mine, I have 4 numbers, a space and then 3 numbers in a different font. As far as reporting the HIN number, do you report the first 4 or all 7?

How do you find out what year it is?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick A,

In the Article section is a reference on how to "Decipher your HIN Serial Numbers".
http://www.whalercentral.com/readarti...icle_id=61

You tag has worn off letters like many of these metal tags suffer.
The tags all have, or had, Numbers and Letters.
See these references:

I'm going to take a wild guess at your number.. Well, Ok, not so wild but a guess anyway.

BWC(AorB), and then your 4 numbers, then M, then 2 numbers and then probably a letter instead of the number you think.

Something like this:
BWCA6666M76I

Sometimes it takes a magnifying glass and a flashlight and looking at it from different angles to try and make out the faded or missing letters. Of course, sometimes it is impossible.

The last 3 or 4 digits tell us the month and year it was manufactured and the model year of the boat.

Let us know what you have....
