Is it the same proceedure as the earlier omc 50 hp model where you drop the lower unit an inch or two, support it, then swing the "starter motor" out of the way to disconnect the "Shift Linkage" to drop the lower unit ?

You have NO replies. I can only assume.

I am very familiar with the 2-stroke OMC 50 (2-cyl.).

I'll say that, without a manual on your year engine, you are in dangerous territory.

With my assumptions, I would guess your assumptions are correct. Removing the starter (BATT connections disabled) that you should be able to see the shift rod.

Why not swing the starter out of the way and disconnect the shift linkage first, then remove the bolts to drop the gearcase?
