If it's working, why do you want to get rid of it? The previous owner of my boat removed the VRO, and I wish I still had it, mostly because VRO thins out the oil at low speeds and smokes much less. And mixing oil is a PITA.
If you are determined, go here and do a search on "removing VRO" - http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24

I had the vro removed on an omc 70 once it quit working. I am pretty sure I had to buy a fuel pump as those are built into the vro.

I wouldn't unhook if it still works. It is imperative that you keep the tank clean and free of water.
The later OMC oil injection systems do not vary the oil mixture. They're straight 50:1 all the time.
If you do want to unhook it, do this.
1. Unplug the oil line and cap it off at the engine where it goes into the engine pan.
2. Unhook the harness. Follow the wires from the pump to the connectors. There will be three or four depending on year.

Yup, only the VERY EARLY ones did.

Do you have any links where I can read up on this?

Only competitive Forums. But, we won't go there.

I did a bit of research and couldn't find anything that said later injection systems are always running at 50:1?

No offense there sport, but that's incorrect. The new OMS systems vary a bit, although not as much as the original VROs. Lot's of information here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=97652&highlight=OMS+ratio and, for the original poster looking for more information, you can do a search on that site as well. Everything you ever wanted to know, etc.

You referenced the same site I would/did not mention. You can look for numerous threads there. Especially from "Dhadley" and "Joe Reeves". Both foremost OMC experts. I KNOW a GREAT deal about that site-trust me.
There is VERY little variation in the injection amount. You might as well call it 50:1.
Some may remember the "Accumix" fuel tanks. They DID vary the oil amount and were a disaster. OMC learned from that.
We can disagree but I'm confident, of my knowledge, on this one.
Besides, what difference does it make? The whole point of oil injection is----CONVENIENCE. I have no doubt it works, for several reasons.
1.
I can see the oil disappearing, in the tank.
2. I keep my system(s) clean, hoses new and clamps tight.
3. The later OMC systems were pretty foolproof, if the above was followed.
