Transom mount verses shoot through hull - Has anyone mounted the transom transducer ? If so, how are the results ?

(For the Lowrance LST 3800)

I use a transom mounted transducer on my 25' Outrage. My depth/fish finder is a Garmin.

I have a Humminbird transom mounted transducer on my 20' Outrage. It works fine but I get a lot of spray from it at speed.
