Anyone have any experience with this motor on an older 13? Going from a '71 Evinrude 40 to this.

I'm running a 1966 hull with a 1993 40 Yami attached to the back. No problems.

How old is your 13? If it's an older one, you probably have a 15 inch transom and will need either a motor with a 15 inch shaft or extend your transom up to 20 inches so you can put the 20 inch shaft motor on it.

My 13 is a '68. The motor is a short shaft 2 stroke. I was wondering about top end speed with, incliuding everything minus engine, about 600 lbs on board. I told the person with the motor that I would make a decision on buying it by monday.

A 25 might be a little small for you. You mentioned in your PM to me that you're 6'3" tall......so with that height comes a little more weight than the average dude. In my opinion, I would pass on a 25 hp. It may be ample to get you where you want to go but you'll be wishing for more motor in no time at all.

I love the 40 Yami that's on the back of my 13'.
