I have an older Montauk with a 1975 70 Evinrude. Been wanting to upgrade and found a 1988 110 Johnson at a local dealer. Just serviced, good compression, includes controls, trim tilt, etc... Overall looks clean and I will see it run tomorrow. Asking price is $1200. Does that seem like a fair price? I am not all that familiar with used outboard values.
Thanks for your input...

I sold a 70 Johnson 1981 for $1,500.00 in year 2000, for what that is worth. I did leave it on the boat so I could test run it for the new owner. Gave the new owner all the gages, shifting gear, wire harness ,every thing he needed to install it on his boat. When you do a change out with a new engine you will more than likely use new stuff, as I did.good luck

I would say its a good price, and you live in the upper Midwest with a short boating season, a place where old outboards live forever. Not so in Florida with the salt water and a 12 month season. I have bought 4 old outboards from your area, and had them shipped to Florida.
