I'm considering the purchase of an '89 Newport with a 2008 Evinrude Etec 90hp. The motor weighs 320lb. Can someone tell me the approximate bridge clearance and draft of this boat? The bridge in question has a clearance of 50" and the water depth is 30", will this boat make it? Any other suggestions for me in terms of things to look for and watch out for? Thanks.

Welcome to WC.
On the left sidebar, under Photo Gallery is the Specifications page. The Newport listing is
here
Does the boat have the original console, as shown in the photo?

Thanks for your welcome and interest.
The boat has the original console and does look like the one in the picture, console on boat for sale is maybe not quite that high. It's much lower than a Montauk which would definitely not fit under the bridge. I glanced quickly at the the specs you referred me to, I don't see bridge clearance there. The boat's located about an hour's drive away and I'll take my measuring tape with me next time. I just thought an existing owner might have already dealt with this issue. Thanks again.

CB,
The Specification Phil points to does show the draft of 9 inches not including the engine so 30 inches of water is plenty.
That is one LOW bridge you have there.
Does the tide change? Or flow of water change which might increase or decrease the clearance?
Do you know for a fact that a Montauk will not fit? If so, by how much?
The only difference between the Montauk and the Newport in terms of height is the console as you already know.
Hopefully someone here with a Newport can tell you what the clearance might be.

I need about 42" of clearance for my Newport. Have you also considered a Currituck, or a 17 sport / supersport?

Joe:
There is a bit of tidal action but nothing significant. The Montauk is definitely too high and it's in the console. I also like the seating in the Newport.
Jeff:
Thanks for your info., based on that it looks like I'm OK even with tidal action. I've looked at other models but at this point based on availability and features the Newport looks good.
