Ray,
That is a great article that I have read many times before. It always nice to see it pop back up as it is a good read for any Whaler Lover.
I have been fortunate enough to have been able to meet Bob in person. He is really is a great guy, building what would I consider to be the top of the line center console boat on the market. Of course you pay for that as well. In my discussion with him this past year at the Miami show he was very open to talking about the design process he went through when doing the classics. The funniest thing I learned was he hated the 21 ribside. He said something to the fact: That 21 was all Dick's doing. I eventually got my way hence the later Smooth Side hulls.

Great story Jeff! I always wondered if the ribsides were done that way initially for structural strength, and then they figured out a way to make it smooth and keep it strong too...
