I have a 1973 14 foot Sports and would like to know the best way to mount an anchor reel. I have a standard AnchorMate type reel which consist of the anchor support and a manual winch, but there is not a lot of rail space to mount the support.

Can you be a little more specific in what you have now and what you are wanting to accomplish?

Tom,
Here is a website that shows the type anchor reel I have:
http://www.worthco.com/marine/anchor.html

And here is a member's personal page that has a boat very similar to mine:

As you can see on Timbo's boat, there is not a lot of mounting space on the rail. The other problem is trying to decide the best place to mount the winch part and be able to route the rope under a fold-down bimini cover. I could take some pictures and send you if needed.

That's a tough one..........My only suggestion would be to built some type of Bow Pulpit like the ones in the download area........These are not for your type boat, but maybe you can get an idea from them.
